Is A Negative HIV Test Report 6 Weeks After Exposure Conclusive?

I had unprotected penetrative vaginal sex last month with a girl whose hiv status i don't know. I took a test after 6 weeks and the result came out negative. I think it was a third generation rapid antibody test (I am in India) . Can you please tell me how reliable the test result is. Is there anything i should still be concerned about?

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. Rapid tests are generally card based and their sensitivity and specificity is less than the Elisa or eclia based confirmatory tests. Since 6weeks have passed, a negative report will mean negative. But it is always better to confirm with a confirmatory test Elisa or eclia. Hope this is helpful.
