Is A Soft And Sore Hematoma On The Head Post An Injury A Concern?

I fell on Sunday afternoon, hitting the top of my head on a door. It was a full-force blow and I wound up with a large goose egg on the top right side of my skull. It was very sore, but not bleeding, so I iced it and went on with life. Today, it s not hurting as much, so I did a brief palpation of the area. The hematoma is kind of soft and squishy, unlike the harder ones I ve had before. Should I be concerned with this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hematoma is nothing but a collection of blood underneath your skin that develops after minor trauma. Most of them resolve spontaneously even without treatment. As of now, no treatment is required and nothing to worry in it. You can apply ice packs for faster recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
