Is A Sore To Touch Bruise On Shin Post A Hit A Cause For Concern?

Hi, while moving 2 months ago I took a nasty hit to the shin on a low table corner. Immeduately it bruised and formed a knot. The slight skin abrasion healed but the bruise is still there (it's purple) and the knot hasn't gone down. It doesn't hurt to walk since it's on the middle of my shin but it's sore to the touch. Do I need to go get this checked out?

Hi.
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain bruising and knot formation after injury occurs due to inflammation of the soft tissues as a result of inflammation and there is rupture of minor blood vessels leading to bleeding and collection of blood in the soft tissues and formation of Hematoma..

There is also over growth of fibrous tissue and accumulation of inflammatory cells leading to formation of a hard knot as well as encapsulation of hematoma makes it a firmer and a slow healing knot/lump..

The inflammation subsides slowly and the knot and lump can be seen for a longer duration and you need not to worry a it will heal gradually..

You can do alternate hot and cold fomentations over the sore area as it will help in faster healing..

In case if still there is a knot present apply thrombophob gel as it will help in faster resolution of the knot..

Hope this information helps..
