Is Abrupt Withdrawal Of Cymbalta Advisable?

Hello, i recently weaned myself off of Cymbalta, well the generic brand. Had been on it years, and recently slowly tapered myself off it. its been two months now. Just recently had breast cancer. Bilateral mascectomy in February 2017. Taking generic Femara. It has a lot of side effects. Did not want to take a lot of medicine. Plus the drive to my Psych. office was too much for me to drive now. Could not find one near me, due to being on Medicare and Medicaid. So i decided to stop Cymbalta.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If you do not have any problems after weaning off Cymbalta, then it is totally fine. If you are doing well without Cymbalta, then there is no need to take the medication. However, you should give a call to your psychiatrist mentioning about this.

Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
