Hi. My dog bit my neighbor on his last night at 8pm. We brought him to the hospital but we were asked to come back in the morning because there s no available doctor to administer cure for the dog bite. The attendant said that the wound wasn t deep and it won t be harmful. After hours, my neighbor isn t feeling any pain, itchiness and warmth on the bitten area. my dog is one and a half year old now a ctor still administer anti-rabies injection on my neighbor although the wound is not to deep?

If the bite is on head , face neck and hands , if there was bleeding, then it ias advisable to take anti-rabies vaccine (ARV). 3 doses of ARV on 0, 3 and 7 days should be given. As its a pet dog, observe animal for 10 days, if there is no rabid manifestations in dog, then the vaccination need not to be continued. Only 3 doses would be adequate. if dog goes missing, or rabid manifestations, then continue vaccination further. Give dose on 14, 30 and 90 days from the date of first dose.
