Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Inside of left ankle slightly towards the toes is a small swelling. Five months ago, after a lot of walking including side hills, the ankle was very swollen. Visited specialist and advice was wear a boot for two months and then a brace. Swelling way down after quiet slow winter. Did some PT and then started walking program. Yesterday played golf. No pain. The area is a little swollen. Not symmetric with right inside ankle. Could this be tendinitis, or is a foot bone a little off kilter? More X-rays or wait and see the foot reacts to more gentle exercise?

Is Ankle Swelling A Symptom Of Tendonitis?
Hi, It may be a sprain or tendinitis. As of now, you can apply ice packs and take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Diclofenac. If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopedician and get an MRI scan done. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
