Is Arthritis Symptomatic With Swollen And Discolored Fingers?
One of my fingers has suddenly swollen. It wont bend all the way. Right at the base is where most of the swelling is. This area is also painful. Don t recall hurting it. There is also a little discoloration to it. Is this symptomatic of arthritis?

Get checked by an orthopedic doctor.try advil tsb thrice daily after meals.and over the counter antibiotics like cephalexi n or what your doctor prescribes.the swelling abrupt onset may be due to infection, but arthritis should also rule out for gout,and other arthritis forms by X-rays,MRI, blood test for CRP, ESR,Anti Ccp,CBC...etc,use a finger splint from drug store to give rest to finger.consult orthopedic doctors

There can be possibility of rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis may involve small joints and early morning stiffness in joints, do you have such complain?
Ankylosing spondylitis typically involve spine and hips with other large joint also. There is reduced chest function in this disease. Stiffness in spine is increased you have such stiffness in spine?
RA positive polyarthritis have fast progression of disease.
