Is Bactrim Ds Effective For Spider Bite?

Hi, I am curious to know more about the oral drug Bactrim DS. I was prescribed this for a spider bite that fit the symptoms of infection possibly cellulitis. I have taken Bactrim twice and my bite seems to be more purple. Is this something to worry about? I also would like to know how quickly Bactrim works.

Hi thanks for your question.
Main complication which occurs after spider bite is allergic reaction. This allergic reaction can be associated with infection or super added infection can occur after the allergic reaction. Antibiotics along with anti allergic and analgesic anti inflammatory drugs are prescribed for spider bite. The infection after insect bite is usually need broad spectrum antibiotics. Your physician is right in prescribing you bacterium DS,as this is also a broad spectrum antibiotic.
