Is Bleeding After A Bowel Movement Post Whipple Surgery Considered A Serious Condition?

After Whipple surgery on December 27, I have experienced great discomfort after eating. Just now I discovered a large blotch of blood in the toilet after my last attempt at a bowel movement, which more closely resembles diarrhea. I had perfectly normal bowel movements up until my surgery. There were no cancer cells discovered in the benign tumor whIch in the pancreatic duct, nor in anything else which was removed. My legs have swollen and stiffened, making walking difficult and slowed me down greatly. How seriously should I take discovery of blood in the toilet? I am scheduled to see my primary care physician in three days.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

*The single episode of bleeding can be taken granted for various reasons, if persistent has to be addressed to the surgeon immediately.
* I recommend to maintain hydration with plenty of liquids, high fiber diet to avoid constipation.
