Is Bleeding And Loose Stools Normal Due To External Hemorrhoid?
My husband has been constipated & strained 2 different times within the last 2 months. Both times he had bleeding and loose stools. He saw the Dr. and she felt an external hemmroid, which made sense. He forgot to mention that he had loose stools. Is this common? He is 85 and refuses to have a Colonoscopy. We are going on a 4 day trip in 5 days and he wants to clear this up.What would you recommend? Thanks,Nancy Samuelson
I really appreciate your concern for your husband Loose stools with bleeding could be caused by number of reasons part from hemorrhoids like Fissure or fistula in anus Rectal polyp Intestinal disease like colon cancer
I would advise you to go for colonoscopy or proctoscopy in order to establish a diagnosis.
Meanwhile please follow these guidelines Avoid constipation by taking laxatives or stool softeners like lactulose or liquid paraffin Give him lots of fresh fruits and raw or steamed vegetables with plenty of dietary fibers Ask him to have lots of lukewarm water 2 to 3 liters a day. Sitz bath twice daily is also advisable
Thanks for your question Please feel free to ask for follow up questions I will be happy to help you Best wishes
