Is Calcium, Iron, B12 And Vitamin D Drops For An Infant Necessary?

Hello Doctors.I m new mother..having 1 and half month baby boy.My pediatrician gave him calcium, iron , b12 and vitamin D drop.Does thes drop necessary for infants.I m breasfeed my baby..and suplimenting with formula milk also ..becoz I have not enough milk supply ?

Hi,
Breast fed infant does not need supplements of the nutrients you refer to.
Babies fed with formula milk need it.
You should try to feed the baby solely on breast milk. for that-
- feed her more frequently.More the baby sucks , more the milk secretion.
- You should take high protein/calcium Iron rich diet.
- you can ask your gynecologist for medicines to stimulate lactation.( Metoclopramides,Fenugreek, Shatawari )
