Is Cervical Spine Surgery Safe While On Blood Thinners?

My husband is getting an cervic sergury to replace a disk at c4 andc 5. He had a stint put in november 2016 and is taking Plavic for 5 months. The cardologist put him on a different replacemet blood thinner a week ago. Is it safe to have surgery without bleeding or going paralized?

You should know that surgery imposes a higher risk for stroke or heart attack, because blood thinners are usually stopped two days before surgery, in order to reduce the bleeding risk.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
