Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to sternum. It causes chest wall pain and swelling. Costochondritis usually has no apparent cause. Costochondritis usually goes away on its own, although it might last for several weeks or longer. Treatment focuses on pain relief and reduction of swelling. Your doctor has prescribed ibuprofen for pain relief. Methylprednosone is sometimes prescribed to reduce inflammation and swelling. Methylprednisolone can be used for few days in costochondritis. So please follow your doctor’s instruction. You can apply hot fomentation also.
Thanks!
