Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter was on Accutame for 5 months. She has been off it now for 3 1/2 months. She is not sexually active. She has not had her period for 5 1/2 months. She has never been regular with this. Her period would be once every 2 to 3 months. Could the Accutane be associated with this? Thank You Linda
Accutane (isotretinoin) is associated with menstrual irregularities. But the occurrence of menstrual irregularities is rare. Absence of periods that is amennorrhea was also seen with patients who were on isotretinoin. But in most of them menstrual irregularities subsided once the medication is stopped. Hope this helps. Thank you.
