Is Dermatitis Curable And Does Corticosteroid Has Any Side Effects?

my daughter is 3 momths old she is having red rashes on her right cheek.doctor said it is atopic dermatitis. my query is that dermatitis is curable ? & secondly she is using eumosone cream which is a corticosteroid,is there any side effects of this cream. I am really worried for her?

Hi...your doctor was right..it is indeed atopic dermatitis and other wise called eczema. It is a type of allergy. Usually kids grow out of it...that is as the age progresses it will gradually settle. Majority of the kids get better by 6 months of age and some may go on till 2 to 2.5 years of age..this cannot be predicted accurately. we have to wait and see.
Corticosteroids do have systemic absorption and may have some side effects. I suggest you consult your doctor before deciding on long term use.
