Is Doctor Consultation Advisable For Minimal Pain In The Hands And Fingers?

I fell yesterday and landed on hands and knees -- on the parking strip grass, thankfully. My neighbor (EMT) helped me up and checked me out briefly -- no dizziness or black-out symptoms -- and advised washing the dirt out of my scrapes and using ice on knees and hands. I have a jel-pack, so I used that. I also took ibuprophen. Today the swelling around knees is hway down, as is that in R hand. L hand has some swelling at base of thumb and wrist, which is stiff. There s less swelling now than there was 3 hours ago. I can move all my fingers and my thumbs on both hands and feel the hands and fingers with minimal pain. (I ve had a fracture in each arm, R arm fracture required surgery, so this injury doesn t frighten me.) Since it seems to me improving, I m wondering if I should just continue with rest, gel pack and elevation or if I should see my doc.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Continue the same elevation, rest and ice packs. You can take combiflam. that's the best anti inflammatory for 2 times for 3 days continue inspire of pain relief. Later you can switch to paracetamol (Dolo 650) when ever you feel like you have stressed day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
