Is Dried Semen Bad For The Skin After Sex?

My boyfriend and I have sex frequently just for fun. And after intercourse we don't usually shower we just fall asleep. My boyfriend wants to know if the dried semen is bad for your skin. Would you possibly know how to answer that? It's awkward I know.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Having dried semen on your skin doesn't cause any major skin problems. Semen is a sterile fluid and it doesn't cause any skin irritation or damage.

However, if proper genital hygiene is not maintained - that is if the genital area is not washed regularly, then this can sometimes cause infections and foul odour.

So, though it may not be necessary to have a wash immediately after sexual intercourse everytime, it is a good idea to clean the genital area with soap and water while taking a bath.

Wish you all the best.
