Is Fasting Sugar 118mg/dl During Pregnancy Normal?

iam 32 weeks pregnent and i ahve being diagonised for gd .. my doc has suggested me to take a week diet plan nad check readings.. my after food readings taken from electronic glocometer are normal(range from 122-133).. but my fasting sugar is 118mg/dl.. will i have to take insulin?.. will it affect my baby?

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Fasting blood sugar level of 118 mg/dl is definitely high in pregnancy and if not controlled by diet, then you have to take insulin to keep the blood sugar levels within normal range.
Deranged blood sugar levels is associated with the risk of macrosomia in fetus, increased fluid levels around the fetus and sudden intrauterine death of the fetus.
I would suggest you to consult your doctor to get appropriate dose of insulin.
