Is Finger Joint Pain And Knuckle Swelling A Type Of Arthritis?

Just diagnosed with AS. Am 26 years old, have the genetic marker, but only have finger joint pain with swelling at the knuckles. Am reading how rare finger joint pain is with this mainly lower back type of arthritis. Could it be another type of arthritis. Tests negative for RA, Lupus, gout.

You are right that in ankylosing spondylitis finger joints are not involved. Still it can happen in some rare cases. Also most inflammatory arthritis have similar treatment so there is no difference in further management. I would suggest you to take Brufen for pain relief. Hot water fomentation will help.
