Is Garcinia Cambogia Extract Intake Safe When On Atenolol For BP?

I take 25 mg atenolol daily with blood pressure usually at 130-5. Am I at risk if I want to take garcinia cambogia extract (500mg with 75mg potassium) to loose some weight? I am 65 years old and weight 140 pounds (I want to loose 20 pounds). I have tried to research this product on line but nothing mentions the effect on HBP.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The active ingredient in garcinia cambogia that is thought to help with weight loss is hydroxycitric acid.

At present there is no evidence to suggest that this supplement affects blood pressure adversely.
You can consider using it and monitoring your blood pressure to ensure that no problem occurs.

I hope this helps
