Is Groin Pain, Associated With Breast Cancer?

I recently had a breast MRI which classifed me as BiRads 4. THere was rapid enhancement with washout. This after a well circumscribed area on routine mammo. I am 48 years old, s/p TAH, but ovaries remain. I have, for the past 4 months, been having right groin pain. CT was negative, Pelvic u/s showed functional ovarian cyst, nothing else. Could the groin pain be related to the abnormal breast finding? My concern of course is breast cancer...however the groin pain is what I went to the dr for in the first place! Can't see the breast oncologist until Feb 16.

Hello,

You are feeling pain in the right groin; have you noticed any swelling or redness in that area? Breast imaging showed BIRADS, is it diagnosed by biopsy?

Biopsy is the confirmatory test for malignancy. So, please go for incision biopsy of breast lesion, and then only we can make treatment strategies.

Usually after diagnosing of primary lesion, to rule out any metastasis, PET-CT should be done. If any hot spots are seen on the PET- CT, it is indicative of metastasis.

My sincere and valuable suggestion is please consult surgical oncologist for better management. Meanwhile, for the groin pain you may use any analgesics like paracetamol or any other to reduce pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
