Is Heavy Cramping, Bleeding, Diarrhea, And Fever Normal After Taking Misoprostol For Abortion?

I took abortion pill on 9th and then did a scan on 21st where it was showing that i have small echogenic foci measuring 4*3.0 mm in the mid endometrial cavity with vascularity . Now from last 2 days i got 2-3 drops of bleeding. Now, again i took 200 mg misoprostol 200 mg today. After that i got heavy cramping & normal bleeding along with diarrhea and fever of 100 degree celcius . is it ok? can i take meftal spas to reduce the carmping.

Hello,

Since you are having diarrhea, fever with bleeding you are advised not to stay at home. Fever is a sign of infection. You are advised to visit ER or get admitted in a hospital. You need to stay under observation. Your blood pressure and general condition needs to be monitored. You can take acetaminophen, one stat after taking some food. It will give relieve from fever.

You may need intravenous support of fluids and antibiotic to help maintain stability and infection control as the products of conception are expelled out. Your Gynae may prefer to do a D & C for you to prevent complications. You should take water and fluids adequately. Stay well hydrated. Take PPIs to get relief from pain due to acid reflux. Take antidiarrheal so that you are not dehydrated.
