Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had hernia surgery 3 weeks ago, and last night, the incision in my navel was a bit painful. This morning, it had a red area around it the size of a baseball... I saw my surgeon today and he asked if it was oozing. It was not. He prescribed Doxycycline (I m allergic to penicillin). This afternoon, it started oozing a pinkish blood tinged fluid. I called his office and the nurse was not terribly concerned, saying I should take the antibiotic, clean the area, and cover with gauze. Should I still worry??
Hi. I don't think you should worry, because it seems to me a little complication of ater surgery that mostly will go with the prescribed antibiotic and the local treatment. And you know that oozing is good, just a cleaning of your wound.
