Is High Blood Sugar And A Thyroid Condition Related?

Is a relation between the thyroid condition and high blood sugar levels? I have a thyroid condition for the past 5 years and right now in recent labs my boold sugar was a little up and I was wondering iif there is a relation betweeen both of them. I am 41 years old 5'8 250 pounds

Hello,
Hyperthyroidism can rise your blood sugars. When we start treatment for hypothyroidism with thyroxine, often we find blood sugars going up. So indirectly there is a relation.
Besides, auto immune diabetes ( type 1 diabetes) and thyroid disease can be related. In addition to this there is a icreased prevelence of hypothyroidism in Type 2 diabetes as well, especially in women.
