Is High Temperature After Taking Panadol For Running Nose In A Child Normal?

Last night my 3 year old daughter had a temperature of 39.4 c and I gave her 5ml of panadol, today she seemed fine, running nose only, before she went to sleep I put 5 ml of panadol in her bottle and 3 hours later I took her temperature and it's 35.1 c is that something I need to worry about? I put some blankets on her to warm her up. Just so you have all the facts. I have one of those digital thermoscanner that you take the temperature through the ear. Please help!

Hi my dear,

First, please bare in mind that ear thermometers if not used correctly can give false results. That is what happens in your child's case.

However, having a temperature of 35.1 c is not to worry about because I doubt in the accuracy of the ear thermometer together with accurate measuring method.

Besides, 5 ml of panadol will not cause such low temperature.

Keep her warm, but, be careful not to cover her with many blankets.

Repeat measuring the body temperature again.

All the best!
