Is Hysterectomy Advisable For Treatment Of Inflamed Fallopian Tubes?

I have been diagnosed with a bulky, retroverted uterus, as well as inflamed fallopian tubes. I have been having lower right groinal, pelvic and hip pain for over a year now. I can't exercise due to the discomfort, and the pain is every day. Do you think that a hysterectomy might alleviate these issues?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Can you please upload the ultrasound scan report at -
http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-aarti-abraham/64623.
That will enable me to provide you with a better diagnosis.
Inflamed fallopian tubes in itself are not an indication for hysterectomy - removal of the uterus.
ANy kind of inflammation / infection always responds to antibiotics and anti inflammatory agents mostly.
ALso, a bulky retroverted uterus, unless symptomatic, does not mandate removal.
ALso please mention your age also.
The pain you describe could be due to other reasons other than uterine / adnexal causes.
Imaging of the pelvis, preferably an MRI and abdominal scanning is a must, as there could be an intra abdominal pathology also.
A hysterectomy might not always alleviate these issues.
It is essential to have a Pap smear and endometrial biopsy before embarking on a hysterectomy.
Has this workup been completed ?
Please write in with fuller details.
All the best
