Is Insulin Suggested For A Sugar Level Of 148-180 ?
I am 28 weeks pregnant and considered high risk of gestational diabetes. I have been checking my sugar levels for the last 2 weeks. Sugar levels are in this range, fasting 90 - 106 and after break fast 148 - 180. I would like to know, should i have to go on Insulin. If yes, how frequently? Other question, can i have coconut water now? Just one hour back i had around 100ml of coconut water and now i am feeling a bit uncomfortable (daisy, reeling..etc).
Dear ma'm, Hi! definitely you should be on insulin. fasting targets for pregnancy are <90 mg/dl and post meals <120 mg dl. so you should start insulin. you must be taking three - four injections /day. one before each major meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner and one bedtime. you can take coconut water but if it does not suit you , you may not take it. Regards!
