Is Irritation In Throat Post Swallowing Food A Cause For Concern?

Was eating some hotpockets when while chewing I swallowed a bit whole. No coughing or anything, just felt it. Now after4 hours my throat feels all tight and i can still state the hotpocket. I m burping and clearing my throat now, is it stuck or just irritation?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you can still swallow and breathing is also normal, then it is likely irritation of the esophagus along with a little reflux (the reason that you can still taste it).

If you are having difficulty swallowing then it may be still present. In that case, you may need to be seen by your doctor if it does not dislodge.

If swallowing and breathing are ok then you can try using anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen along with an agent for reflux such as prilosec, prevacid, nexium.

I hope this helps
