Is It Advisable For A Healthy Person To Take Weight Loss Medicines?
HELLO DR. I AM 50 OLD 5'1" TALL, AND WEIGHT IS 187, I AM WAY OVER WEIGHT AND ON BP MED JUST 1, MY BP IS UNDER CONTROL WITH THE MEDS, IS IT SAFE TO TAKE THIS DIET MEDS TO HELP ME LOSE THE WEIGHT, I JUST STARTED A HEALTHY EATING HABIT AND NEED MORE HELP GETTING THE WEIGHT OFF, I JUST WANT TO GET HEALTHY WITH GETTING THE WEIGHT OFF. WHAT IS THE RISK IF I TAKE IT.
It is not advisable to take any medications or supplement for losing weight because: 1. The medications interfere with the normal metabolic rate of the body & causes a number of side effects 2. The individual tends to gain more weight after stoppage of the medication.
Considering the fact that you are on BP medication, the diet pill may cause interaction with it and may cause more harm than benefit. So, before choosing any diet pills/ medications, it is advisable to consult your family physician once. For effective weight control, equal importance should be given to both diet & exercise in addition to regular intake of your BP meds.
Wishing a Good Health. Take care.
