Hello Doctor , Should patients be advised to take fluoride treatment before thyroid removal? Is there a post treatment option for the teeth of someone was not warned of these side effects? Thank You, Barry Udoff

Hello.

Before getting your thyroid gland removed, you can safely take the fluoride treatment. If you have already got your thyroid gland removed,even then you can take fluoride treatment for your teeth as it is the iodine which is taken up by the thyroid gland.
