Is It Common To Bleed Heavily After Stopping Northisterone Tablets?

i have been taking 3 northisterone tablets a day for 10 days due to menopausal and possible fibroid heavy bleeding,3 days after stopping the tablets i am bleeding heavy, in the past i have taken these tablets and bleeding was very light.can this happen sometimes.i was having a period for 20 days which wasnt stopping so thats why i was given northisterone .hope this makes sense.thankyou for your help.

Hi,

Yes. After stopping your progesterone pills heavy bleeding is a common phenomenon as there occurs a condition called withdrawal bleeding. I would suggest you to start a course of tranaxemic acids (500mg) along with norethisterone tablets 5mg for 5 days.
