Is It Harmful To Consume Alcohol When On Metrogyl 200?

Hi. My Doctor has prescribed Metrogyl 200 for me and he tells me not to consume ANY alcohol. Is it really that important? I am going to a wedding and would like to have a couple of glasses of champagne. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to be the driver.....

Metrogyl(Metronidazole) has disulfiram like reaction. It causes alcohol sensitivity reactions presenting as unpleasant symptoms after alcohol intake

Taking alcohol while you are on Metrogyl 200 can cause headaches, nausea, reddening of the face, belly cramps, and vomiting

You are advised to avoid alcohol for at least 3 days after you finish your last dose
