Welcome and thank you for asking!

I read your concern and i am trying to give you some more information regarding to you queries.

A high TSH level is an indicator of hypothyroidism, because it is a hormone that is produce by the pituitary gland to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce more when it is in under function.

The side effects of an under functioning thyroid are: weight gain, high lipid profile, constipation, low heart rate, ect. that should be corrected after the normalization of the TSH level.

If the TSH i corrected and the symptoms persist, than another cause should be tried to find.

If the TSH is maintained within the normal ranges, no bad effects in the future are excpected.

Hope the information is helpful.

Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
