Is It Necessary To Switch From Nexium To Protonix?

I have a hiatal hernia which is often very active. I also have gastric reflux in my chest especially on exurtion. I had an Upper GI, barium swallow, organ MRI, extensive blood work all neg. Doc changed me from Nexium to Protonix and wants to do an endoscopy. Is that necessary? My heart was also checked and all perfect.

Hi,

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Need Upper GI scopy and barium swallow to confirm the cause. Yes you can use Pantaprazol in place of Esmoprazole.

If you're symptom free then discuss with your treating doctor about requirements of investigation. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
