Is It Normal For Diarrhea To Turn Darker And Tint The Water, With No Stomach Pain But Gassy Gurgling?
Hi i’ve been having diarrhea no stomach pain just mostly gassy gurgling and the poop was just normal colored then a few hours ago it turned darker not super black and not tarry but dark way darker than normal and the color from the poop seems to dye the water like the color is seeping is that normal?
Since there is no pain in stomach, only gassy gurgling your symptoms are indicative that the change in stool color is due to diet-related change. Certain food causes stool to become dark. Foods like spinach, blueberries, chocolate, beets, and iron supplements can make stool dark. To prevent gas, you can take antacids or PPIs. It will give you relief.
Keep yourself well hydrated and avoid being constipated. Include fiber in your daily diet. Get clinically examined by a GP or visit ER if the stool becomes jet black/tarry, maroon, or has visible blood, you need urgent medical support. When you start feeling dizzy, weak, or get abdominal pain, consult your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr Nupur K., General & Family Physician
