Is It Normal For New Born Babies To Pass Stool Frequently?

my 6weeks old baby boy,passes poop very frequently almost each time he pees,i.e., abt 15-20 times a day..Is it normal,& he strains too much while pooping his face turns red. Is it that he has prob pooping..How many times shud a newborn poop in a day.Pl help im worried

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Normally a breast fed newborn (0-28 days) passes about 10 golden yellow colored loose stools.
Then almost next 5 months may pass 6-10 loose stools.
!5-20 times per day is definitely abnormal even at 6 weeks age.
Babies usually strain in the first 3 months known as infatile colick and is normal.
It passes off after 3 months of age.
Better consult pediatrician regarding loose motions and see proper treatment is given.
