Is It Normal To Get My Period A Week Early When On Loryna?
I have been on yaz for 7 years. they recentley changed me to the generic version Gianvi and then Loryna due to my insurance. on yaz i had very heavy bleeding. since i have been taking the generic for almost two months now it is pretty nonexistant. my periods are very light. also this month, i got my period one week early. is this common? is there something else that can be wrong? Should i continue to take my active pills for the rest of this week?
Hi, Yaz and loryna contain the same drugs. Even then, in my clinical experience, many women are comfortable with a particular brand and find other brands unsuitable. So this possibility cannot be ruled out. For this, the best solution that I can suggest is to try switch over to yaz and see for the next one or two cycles. If things are all right, maybe it is the pill causing it.
I understand you did not have periods or very light periods for 2 months and now are having an early period.
The other reasons for this range from mild hormonal imbalances including abnormal thyroid levels, increased prolactin levels and local ovarian problems like ovarian cysts. Accidental pregnancy also cannot be ruled out in this case.
For similar patients in my clinic, I advice a urine pregnancy test. If it is negative, a gynecologic examination and testing for blood thyroid and prolactin levels along with ultrasonography help.
