Is It Normal To Have Acidic Smell From Stool After Suffering From Fissures And Taking Miralax And Magnesium Complex For It?

38 yr old female, no other health issues. History of fissures and piles. Take 1/2 dose of miralax and 3 tabs of magnesium complex daily to keep stool soft. Typically with this I don't experience any symptoms. Every so often (2x/month) I experience an acidic or sour smelling stool for 1-2 days and i experience a fissure flare-up. I have kept things under control, but wondering if my bacteria levels could be off causing this occasional stool problem. Would a probiotic help? Should I take anything else? Thank you.

Hi. Taking a probiotic may help, and you should take. As you thought rightly a course of an antibiotic helps. Do take sitz bath.
