Is It Normal To Have Foul Smelling Loose Stools After Undergoing Gastric Bypass?
I am a gastric by-pass patient, now of five years and for the past three weeks I have been having foul smelling loose stool, (not black or tar color, only brown), and wend I pass gas it has a foul odor also. I wanted to know what foods should I avoid or be eating until this condition ends.
* A gastric bypass surgery before 5 years have nothing to do with current smell and colour of stool.
* It is most likely due to intestine infection through some sort of bacteria or virus mostly.
* Apart from intake of probiotics and fresh yoghurt in the diet, one should avoid all spices, non-veg, junk foods, high cholesterol items in the diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
