Is It Normal To Have Groin Pain And Discomfort After Sigmoid Colectomy?
Hi, I have underwent a sigmoid colectomy in May 2013 due to a diverticulitus abscess forming on the colon. 4 days later, there was an anastomotic leak and had to undergo emergency surgery where a stoma was formed. On 25 September 2013, I had a reversal done. It's been two and a half months since, and I started to experience dull pains at the resection site. This pain penetrates to the groin area and causes discomfort. Is that normal? How long will it take for these pains to subside and go away? I am currently using a hot water bottle to ease the discomfort. When I gently press on the site, it feels like I can feel the colon. Is this normal or am I feeling the adhesions. Also, I gently pressed on the site today and felt gas releasing into my rectum. Please help me to understand what is happening.
