Is It Normal To Have Late, Heavier Periods Along With Stomach Cramps And Lower Back Pain?
My period was late today is the first day but its way heavier then normal and my stomach is cramping but I feel a tightness where I cant even cough it hurts so much and pain in my mid and lower back area is this normal? Cause I dont usually feel like this
Hi, Thanks for the query. Delay in periods can occur due to many causes. Hormonal imbalance is one of them. Delay in periods can lead to excessive growth of endometrium, the inner layer of uterus. This can lead to heavy bleeding and cramping pains during periods. If there is any possibility of pregnancy, better to rule out miscarriage once. Normal menstrual pain will subside after taking antispamodics. So, you can take antispamodics with your doctor's advice. If pain persists even after taking tablets, once consult gynecologist and get evaluated. If she advices go for ultrasound. Ultrasound helps in finding out the possible cause for delayed period and dysmenorrhea. Take care.
