Is It Normal To Have Spotting While Taking Nogestol Tablets?

i had an abortion. have taken misoprostol tab under medical guidance. i had bleeding for about a week and then it stopped. i had an ultrasound after 10 days of taking the pills.& the report came normal. then my gynae gave me 21 tabs of nogestol . i am already done with 10 tabs but i m getting lil dark colured spotting at times . I want to know is it normal to have spotting while taking these nogestol tabs or is it the indication that i ve some more pieces left in my uterus ,, kindly help. Also i feel little dizziness, nausea, pukish and slight heaviness in my lower abdomen

Hi,

I understand your concern. Following abortion through medication, it is common to have intermittent spotting, sometimes dark or brown in color. Dark or brown colored spotting could take place due to passing of retention of blood or tissues. Such intermittent spotting could continue for about 4 to 6 weeks following abortion process.

Generally, your periods should get regularized after a couple of cycles. Kindly take the medications as advised and do the necessary follow-up. Other symptoms what you have been noticing is due to blood loss during the abortion process. Intake of healthy diet rich in protein and iron along with supplementation of iron and folic acid medications regularly should overcome the symptoms gradually.
