Is It Okay To Consume Alcohol While Taking Antibiotics For UTI?

So I have a party to attend tonight and we were going to drink some alcohol. Today I went to the Dr and was told I have what appears to be the start of a UTI I picked up my prescription tonight and have not started it yet because I know you can t drink while taking the antibiotic. My question is will it make it worse if I drink tonight and start the antibiotic in the morning instead of tonight?

Hi,

Drinking alcohol should not postpone initiation of treatment for UTI. I suggest you do the course of antibiotics and resume to drinking alcohol responsibly after that.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
