Is It Okay To Cut Down Ppropanolol To 40 Mg In The Morning And 20 Mg At Night For Blood Pressure?
my husband takes lisinopril 1tablet twice a day, amlodipine 5mg once a day, propranolol 40mg 1 tablet twice a day and clonidine .3mg patch weekly, he can hardly stay awake, has cough and some swelling in his legs. But his blood pressure is great! I think he is getting to much, heart doctor cut down propranolol to 40mg morning and 20mg nitely. do you think that is enough thank you
Your doctor always knows your proper and complete history therefore its better to consult the doctor whose treatment your husband is on. He/she will be in a better position to advisea cut down or addition in his prescription. Lisinopril and drugs of the same family are known for causing dry cough, besides thiazides in combination will help relieve the symptom of leg swelling. And in case of propranolol, gradual tapering is important so as to minimize the chances of withdrawal effects like reflex increase in heart rate. Again, it is advisable to consult your (husband's) doctor.
