Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Possible For The Spine To Push Down, Lowering The Rib Cage?
Hello, around last year i had an accident where my head rammed directly into a hard floor and it seems that my spine was shifted inside my body and my neck is shorter. I have been going to physio for some time but still have that scruched up sensation in my neck and ribs. Is it possible for your spine to be further pushed inside your body and lowering your rib cage. Or, am I just mentally talking myself into things?
Regarding your concern, I would explain that this is not possible. Anyway, a discal herniation may occur or deformation of the cervical spine, which can lead to shortening of the vertebral column height.
For this reason, I recommend performing a cervicothoracic spine X-ray study.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
