Is It Safe To Discontinue Sodium-bi-carbonate Intake Completely?

I've been taking sodium bicarb prescribed by my nephrologist for 4 years. Said doctor retired and new dr has taken me off of it as of today because all my lab tests have been normal. Seems like a drastic measure to go from 4 pills a day to 0 and now I can't contact the nurse again to give me a reason why.

Yes you can be weaned off sodium bicarbonate if all the biochemical parameters are okay & your creat is not very high. But it would be good to continue it in low dose as it has been seen to slower progression of Chronic kidney disease in studies.
So i think it all depends on your Pottasium & creatinine.
