Is It Safe To Give Glucon D To A 2 Year Old?

Hi Doctor,

My 2 year old baby girl does not drink water often, but whnever she sleeps we give her bottle of water to drink and initially she usd to drink but later avoiding it. So, we started mixing Glucon-D (orange flavour), 2 spoons of sugar in the water for the past 2 days and she started drinking the whole.

Is it OK to continue with Glucon-D to tsuch small kids and what will be the consequences? Please advice.

Thanks,
Satya

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

What ever carbohydrate that is digestable that we consume is converted to glucose in the body (carbohydrates consumed are converted to glucose)

So there is no real harm of giving glucose to a child of that age. But excess of any thing is going to do harm. Encourage her to have water.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
