Is It Safe To Have Remicade For Crohn S Disease?

I am a 71 year old female diagnosed with crohns . My gastro wants me to start om remicade. But I am afraid of the side effects... I had surgery to remove the terminal ilium and had a little improvement but not much. Less than a year after I had a blockage that required a gastric tube and emergency hospitalization. A week ago a colonoscopy shows two strictures. My symptoms are flares of diarrhea pain and malaise. If acute I vomit .

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately all medications are associated with potential side effects that may or may not occur.

It is possible that if the medication is used, you may not experience many or any intolerable side effects.
The effects tend to occur in the minority not majority of persons using a medication.

If the effects are intolerable then you can consider discontinuing it.

I hope this helps
