My mom. Is 86 My My mom is 86 years I Old my mom is 86 years old who s bad neck problems. She just found out that her c1 and c2 are bad and she may need surgery. Is it possible for someone that is 86 years old to have surgery how s life threatening is it

It carries a great risk operating on an elderly but it is possible. The reasons for the surgery must be very clear with surgery being the only way this problem can be managed. If there are any other non surgical possibilities, they should be considered and tried fully before rushing to surgery. Let surgery be the last option to be considered because of the huge risk given her age. Let the anesthetist evaluate her and make the finite call.
