Is It Safe To Introduce Salt In A 1.5 Yr Old Child To Retain Water And Wakeup Less Often?

My daughter is 1.5 years old. She eats very well - only fresh fruits, veggies and meat - i.e. nothing prepared or processed. She drinks anywhere from 30 to 90 oz of water at night. Recent blood and urine tests show all organs working perfectly, her nutrition balance is perfect . Is it safe to start introducing salt to her diet to help her retain water and wake-up less often? Thank you

Hi

Welcome to the HCM

Yes, you may start her on salt added diet. Kidneys are mature enough to handle salts by one year of age.

Take care
